New Parish Councillor Co-opted.
Callum Ward has been co-opted on to the Parish Council to fill one of the two vacancies. Callum lives on Leicester Road and has recently moved to the Village and is a geotechnical and environmental engineer working as a Project Manager for a firm of consultants in Northamptonshire. Callum is married with two young children.
With the recent proposed developments and changes to the village, Callum is keen to make his expertise available to help the community get the right types of development, to not put undue pressure on the village’s facilities and not to add to the problems with roads, drains and car parking. Callum is also keen to get involved with the problem of speeding traffic and the issue of on-street parking which makes it difficult at times to safely navigate the pavements.
For Callum’s contact details and those for all parish councillors please visit the website: www.fleckneyparishcouncil.org.uk

Community Flood Wardens are members of the local community and are supported by the local authorities, Environment Agency and LLR Prepared. Nominated volunteers will sign up with their district council and become part of the Community Flood Plan for their area. They will also receive direct flood warnings from the Environment Agency and pass these on to their neighbours.

Street Naming.
Harborough District Council is encouraging local communities to commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War 1 by naming streets in new developments after them. The Parish Council has been asked for suggestions for names for the estate roads on the Persimmon Homes development on the southern edge of the Village and has put forward six names all of which appear more than once on the memorial plaque in St Nicholas Church. Harborough Council, who is responsible for street naming, want to make sure as far as is possible before they make a decision that any living relatives are consulted and given the opportunity to comment. The proposal is to commemorate the following surnames. A suitable suffix would be added by Harborough DC e.g. Close.
Chapman (A, AG, AW, H, T & W)
Gamble (JM, L, MA & TJA)
Deacon (J, R & W)
Mattock (JA & RF)
Smith (E & HJ)
Sturgess (JW & L)
If you are a relative and would like to comment please contact Michaela Barton at Harborough District Council ([email protected]).
